Default My AC is leaking... What are my options?

Alright, so here's the deal.

My AC works fine when I fill it up with freon (or whatever it's called) for about a week, give or take.

Gradually (throughout the week) it starts to blow a little warmer.

The simplest explanation I can think of is that I have a leak. So, what I want to know is what's the best way to detect a leak and where are leaks common?

Should I buy a can of that leak sealer sold in auto stores or is that just another money waster?

Alan (ActionJackson) has a parts Legend a bit north of me and I'll be getting whatever AC related items I need to get if I need to, but of course I want to not overspend for a simple solution.

Thanks!

probably using a dye in the refrigerant (or freon) to find out where in the system the leak is coming from. then you can determine what parts you will need to replace

Just hope your leak is not under the dash.

Depending on how clean you keep your engine bay, you may want
to clean it prior to injecting a dye into the system or it may get lost
once in contact with grease, oils and other dirts.

Just a suggestion...

Oh, and pray it isn't under the dash.

the shop that filled ur freon should have put in a dye, its typiclaly standard procedure. but if they didn't that's what u need, and then look for the dye leaking out at the seals/joint/connections.

don't throw your money away on those sealers, get it fixed right. they sell the freon with the dye and glasses to see it at Autozone.
