HOWEVER. anything that cracks right at the weld. or right next to it. is inferior and poorly welded.

i had NO opinion on OBX until seeing HOW they cracked. not THAT they cracked.
If you are inducing stress on a pipe (from a missing bracket, or bottoming out because you're lowered), OBVIOUSLY its going to crack at its weakest point. These headers are obviously a shitty design, there is no question about that. It's all that is available and affordable right now and into the foreseeable future. I'm more pissed that everyone is going around touting a pair of $1000 headers that dont exist yet, were supposed to exist over 3 years ago, and have yet to be proven. Right now good running Legends can be had for $1500, gonna be hard to sell JUST the headers for $1000. Hell, that being said, the OBX headers have never been proven!

okay you guys are bashing OBX...

However, we all know how "gentle" alex is on cars, plus those are the same headers from the coupe he totaled if i'm not mistaken...

let alone the leakage on them and the fact he was not running a rear transmission mount to limit the front to back motion of the engine...That extreme life they endured, i think they held up well enough...

Granted a crack at the weld isn't the sexiest thing in the world, the fact that it took them this long to fall completley part is a feat...

I'm still on the fence about OBX...I might get a set just to see what they do.

EDIT:

I agree, they're not the best designed header assembly in the world, and by far not the best crafted...but they're inexpensive and the only game in town...

If you want to pay 1500 for a set of headers, by all means go right ahead. But i've been around for 10 years...it's the same story "WOOT WOOT WOOT!" then the dollar signs become "Real" and all of the whooping and hollaring turns into "Give me a few weeks..."

^ don't forget idk how long i ran with bad front mounts. but still, what i went thru is very common thing for the obx's (failure) no worries it'll hopefully be welded up today and put back in tomorrow, gotta have this exhaust leak free for the upcoming dyno day

I have a pair of OBX's and must say i'm pleased with my results and besides what are the alternates, waiting for some thousand dollar headers or stock? OBX the only choice you have beside custom made, thats it.

its funny. on the surface this thread looks like an arguement.. however. we all seem to be in agreement with whats true. OBX = only option. but obviously cheap. i personally won't get a set ever because i've played the header game before. with my truck where i DID have more options. after my hookers cracked at the flange. i put on a set of doug thorley headers

someone should hit up thorley to make a header for the legend.. thats all i'm saying. haha

This just sucks man.
This is questioning OBX's quality i have seen there pricing and there very cheap for a T304 Header. But like said there the only option at the moment.

And if people want really good quality headers they will need to shell out some more money. so thats always the dilemma but your also going to have more costs in maintaining a cheap product this is something most people forget.

Although a GB for a high quality header kit could be done i suspect there won't be enough buyers to get the price down to a affordable level.
