Default Shaky Engine -1993 Acura Legend

I am buying a 1993 Acura Legend from my neighbor. It has 138k miles it has been sitting for a little over a year now so the battery was bad , I put a new battery in and it started up fine and ran pretty good but it sounds like it needs oil which it definitely does after checking it .So the problem is when we put it in reverse it was a bit more shaky then normal , then when we pulled on the road put it in drive and drove down the road it was smoother and stopped shaking as much.My guess is a loose motor mount or i need new transmission fluid. Please help any info would be useful. Thanks!

The 3.2 has a notorious shake around 1.2K RPM. It's made especially noticeable by the fast idle system the Legend uses at cold startup. There's not really much to be done about it, but it is the reason the 3.5 was designed with a balance shaft. If the shake is severe, however, I would suggest fresh gas and a long drive (1 hour+). Sitting never bodes well for cars.

Alright thanks for the help, its actually not too bad of a shake its like a rumbbling at your feet sometimes but its not a horrible shake but after I do an oil change this weekend I'll try this and see if it helps.

Since you are new to the car, make sure to also check/replace the differential oil. Most shops don't know that the Legend has separate differential oil.

IIRC only the 91/92 mount system has that eerie 1,100-1,300rpm rumble... the redesign of a center mount and side dampers I believe took care of it... with the exception of people who thought those dampers are supposed to be solid and filled them in with poly or something rigid.

Ah, maybe. I find it hard to believe that it eliminated the problem entirely, but I'm sure it helped a lot. My current drivetrain is from a 93, but I have 91 mounts, so I have the rumble at times.

I finally removed that awful engine damper, and that helped a lot. I do also have a pretty solid rear mount as well.

Default Working better

I did a oil change and quality inspection and they didn't find much except for there was no oil or other fluid in the car so they did an oil change and topped of all my fluids and it feels alot better now but hasn't completely stopped the shaking so I'm gonna do a tune up and get all the gas put that's been sitting for a year and see how much that helps.
