Angry 92 Legend sedan idle problem

So my legend sat for a long while ( loooong story lol ) but in the process of having everything replaced at the shop and driving it 1-it runs "ok" 2-it shifts really rough and 3-it refuses to idle right It seems like right when the thermostat opens and the idle is supposed to come down it starts this cycle of high idle low idle high idle low idle. It's like it goes from cold idle to warm idle and back and forth and when it's in gear (reverse or drive) it doesn't happen. Just at idle BUT it does die sometimes when coming to a stop also. The mechanic said it's because of a vacuum leak in the intake system housing but I wanted another thought on it if someone else had something similar happen.

So basically wondering thoughts on getting the car running a little smoother and shifter smoother after sitting so long and if it's a vacuum leak that could be causing the inconsistent idle and dying when stopping. Any thoughts would help!

Sounds like you have air in your coolant system. Bleed it and you should be fine. If it happens again then you a leak in the system.

Its been bled and thats what confuses me so much because for the longest I always thougth it was air in the system but its been bled or someones tried like 4 different times. It does have a tear in the hose that goes from the air filter to the throttle body and it does have a leak but would that really cause it to die?

Sounds like you may have a blockage in your heater core, that is why it is not getting hot and the bleeding is not working completely.

All good advice. Also, vacuum leaks will do it everytime. We bled ours and finally had to replace the idle control valve along with the EGR. Took some work but it runs like new. 91 Legend, 374K. Love the car. Don
