Default *In singsong voice* I've got a 93 cooooupe shell!

...and my friend has a Ford 502 motorrrrrrr.

Discuss.

(I've already talked to a couple of you about this, and why I think this is a very real possibility. But! I'll let the general public voice their flame and hate before I divulge that publicly.)

He does. This guy literally built his Pinto and '65 Galaxy from the ground up. He's also the guy I go to to have the 3.5 mounts made!

After years of subtle-ly pestering him to hot rod a Legend, it seems he's finally caved! I'm excited. We'll be transporting the shell to the shop in the next few days.

Correct. And not ignorance, I just haven't specified.

We were thinking of ripping out everything Legend from the rear, and putting in a Super Coupe's IRS, making it RWD. He did the same thing to his Pinto, actually.

We were also considering a solid axle, if we wanted to make it a strictly drag car. If that turns out to be the case, the car will be shelled, tube framed, and pieced together that way. Not really a Legend anymore, but it'd look like one!

It may take a few years, but if this happens... oh man will I be happy!

I guess the poin of the thread right now is to see how many people think it can even be done. I know I have a few concerns about the strength of the rear of the car, and if it's enough to handle the pure force that a big block V8 can throw down.

This always seemed like the way to go to me. Gut everything, chop and build where you need to. I know nothing of Ford engines, but I assume it's comparable to a big block chev v8 ... tube framing is probably a good idea whether it's a drag car or not.

Answering your question I guess, I think it can be done. Only time will tell if it will.

I actually had a suspicion you were going to try to do a RWD conversion with that LT1 you have (had?) kicking around .
