my SPEC clutch arrived from California (to Oregon -- not that far, really) in excellent condition, with beefy plastic shrink-wrap that was completely intact. no rust at all. in fact, it sat in my attic for nearly a year before i finally unpackaged it last week, with still no rust. they did a really good job packaging it, and it came with pilot & release bearings, and the alignment tool (and 2 stickers ).

my point being that i think Lou has a legitimate complaint about buying something like this new for a lot of money and expecting that it will show up in "new" condition, especially since it's directly from the manufacturer. you would think they care enough about their reputation to at least package the thing really tightly. it looks like it sat on a shelf somewhere for a while (and rusted) before they finally shipped it.

the outer packaging damage looks pretty normal for UPS, from what i've seen.

my 2 cents...

Well I for this reason (shipping) elected to buy mine and go pick it up locally. So although I had to pay sales tax... Anyway its nice that SPEC is in my backyard. The packing would have bothered me in particular if I had surface rust on a piece that expensive. Always got people messing with our satisfaction. So Lou what clutch are you going to really run?
