Default This Does Not Look Too Great

I am removing my fan relays to see if they work (does anybody know of an easier way of removing these things?!) I removed my condenser fan relay (Condenser fan is the one not working btw)and I discovered this.

here is the inside of the relay, it looks toasted.

now is this burnt charred mess from my relay being bad or is this a common occurrence when removing the relays

It is not common and should NOT look like that, at least you've found your problem. The hard part is to figure out is whether the relay caused the problem or the relay took the hit

PS they are a bit of a pain to remove, you have to bend them back and forth (side to side) while pulling on them if you don't have something to pry up on the tabs.

You should go to the junkyard and get a new fuse box or Ari probably has three of them in his garage from his never ending part-out.

I know what you mean, I am thinking that the relay is the source of the short. That relay was so hard to remove it was literally fused into the relay box!!

well I put a new relay in and it is all back to normal. I looked into replacing that box and it has the whole rest of the engine wiring harness attached to it.

The main fuse box has removable connectors but the small boxes are direct wired to the main harness that goes from inside fuse box to under hood fuse box, to lights, small fuse boxes and around to the ABS assy and finally to the ECU!

the most you can do if it becomes a problem is dremel out the old connector/plug in the fuse box, and rewire the 4 wires that where connected there into a new relay. :/
