Default STS turbo....open ended discussion

www.ststurbo.com

I know a member had this done to his coupe but he isn't very active. I believe his name is alienclay. I have been pondering this for a while and wanted to know everyone's thoughts. It seems a bit easier since you don't need to make turbo headers but would pose more of a damage risk since it is so low to the ground. I seen some of the older posts from him on the other site but wanted some input. Any suggestions guys?

It's been discussed in the past. Routing the piping such that you aren't bottom it out is harder than cramming a turbo underhood, IIRC.

^ The answer to that question is about 9psi without any issues on average. There is a pretty sweet one on HMT, but I can't remember what type of car it was I wanna say a Mercury of some sort. If you are serious it is time to do your homework. Any additional info I can provide is already in my thread and various related threads I have posted in.

Isn't another word for this simply, remote turbo? The lag must be pretty crazy though, thats a lot of air to compress to spool... I have thought about doing this with a legend, making an ultra simple turbo set up and posting it up but I dont have a legend anymore lol good luck on this guys, hope you can get this to work out

I've been thinking of this a while ago seen it on a E60 M5,
Main concerns would be turbo lag and piping which is going to be a PITA big time to get those pipes back to the front and cool.

We do have enough space near the muffler but then the for people running cats there is a problem with boost and even worse lag.

Maybe if it would be mounted in or near the Y-pipe you could run a twin or single setup but then there would be space concerns

i think that sts magical invention works fine only on the cars with engine mounted on the back of the car , i can't imagine how to route 75mm piping thru all the chassis and accelerate with great turbo lag due to almost 5m long air piping
