Day 9:

Got the front bumper prepped, masked, and shot first off.....

The proceeded to get the headlights installed to the car....I replaced the passenger side lamp, so had to get the original driver's lamp to look like the new one.....

sanded with 400 Grit DA sander...

Then 600 and 800 Grit DA....

Then wetsanded with 1000, 2000, and 4000 with a 3 inch DA....

Then polished with these products....

And.....looks like the new one except for some moisture haze on the inside I'm not going to worry about.....

Then got all the mirrors and door handles installed and put door panels back together.

Day 10:

Installed the front bumper and some other things here and there, then got the car over to the shop for polishing....

I heavy compunded this fresh paint with a high speed buffer then polished it clean...extra work...but worth it.....

After polishing like a mad man for a few hours, I cleaned everything up and took some pics....and here are the final results from 65 hours of hard labor......

edit: That's fantastic work! Car looks better than it did out the factory. Wish you could bring all of your resources and show the west coast some love

No more orange peel than it did from the factory....

and it's wet-sandable clearcoat if someone really wants perfection.

Looks incredible. How much did this job cost the customer if you don't mind me asking?

man, your a brave mofo for attempting a black --- actually a custom nighthawk deep glittered black as your *first* full car paint job.. but the risk was well worth it... that customer better be happy, cuz that car looks better than new.

Internal cost of labor and parts/paint used was about $2500....about $900 of that was the new fender, bumper, and headlight with various related parts.

Customer would have paid around $3500 for this type of job with no discounts and if there were no parts needed....take off maybe $400 if I didn't have to do the door handles. A lot less if I just tape everything off...but I don't like doing jobs like that.
