Goddamn. That's spectacular 'cause that's not an easy color to match. You need to do a Cayman White Pearl and show that one off, sport---

This one sucked...

New front bumper for an 01 3.2 TL is roughly $150. No big deal.....except it doesn't come with the lower lip.

The lower lip is not available aftermarket, so I price one from Acura.......it's over $350!

So I have to rebuild the original one.....

First thing I have to do is give it strength where this large crack is. For this job I'm using a plastic welding kit that is sold on EBAY for about $200. It paid for itself on this one job. I cut out some stainless mesh and basically heated it up with the welding iron and sunk it into the plastic while holding the crack in place. Allowed it to cool, and now the mesh is fused into the plastic, holding it together.

The rest of the damaged areas have to be grinded down and grooved out to prep it for melting together.

I don't have pics of what it looked like after fusing all that together, but you basically heat these areas up with the iron while feeding in filler plastic (make sure you use the right filler plastic, usually Honda bumpers are polypropylene).

On parts this flimsy, you must never use bondo regular body filler. It doesn't flex. I used fiberglass filler for this. It's harder to sand, but will last longer and is flexible.

Here is the finished product sitting on top of the newly painted bumper.

The bumper turned out as well.....

Lexus IS350 - 2009 - In Black

My buddy wanted it painted for some bug damage on the hood and front bumper

And he want's it NICE. He's also almost as picky as me, so here we go.

Sand down, primer the chips, block sand, etc.....

Base was shot and color-sanded...

Clear coat....

Wet sanded...

And I'm calling it a night. I'll post up when this one is finished.

I was recently wondering what a re-spray for the legend would cost. What should I be expecting to pay for an exterior only paint job (no door jams)? I'm looking for a real glossy thick clear coat. My car is also virtually free of dings and dents and panels are pretty much perfectly straight.

I'll PM you about it.

Here's the rest of the Lexus job. It was late when I finished it, and didn't get to take pics out in the sun like I wanted to.

It turned out very nice....there were about 10 hours of labor in the hood between spraying it and wetsanding, but well worth the time. The owner of this car was very, very happy.

And here is an MDX I painted both bumpers, and did partial panel repairs on the passenger fender and quarter panel....
