Water pump

The timing belt project got stalled for 2 year during the CoVid-SaRS2 because I tore the Cam seal and couldn't get it out.

Lightbulb solved: right hand side water pump bolt 6x50

With the old pump (generic Japan) the bolt went in fine. But looking at the block there is slight groove at the lip before the thread starts.

So I just held the pump with one hand about 1/4 away...

There is a pair of long bolts (see my link below) 6x50 that go through the water pump. The left one screws in fine but not the right one. When I switch the two screws now other screw won't go in.

The manual pages are excellent and I read them a few times. Now I know to look at the diagrams more carefully. A bolt doesn't always have a removable nut on the other side!

Well, this is frustrating. The crankshaft pulley bolt came lose with a steel pipe attached to a breaker bar.

But the (3) 14mm bolt heads underneath and the (3) 17mm nuts holding the center...

SMOG follow up

Passed SMOG!

There was misfiring, corrosion on coils cleaned.
Vacuum leak small air hose at connector under throttle body. Also replaced PCV valve.

Whew.

Happened to find a battery tiedown at the jy. Our jy seems to discard these when they pull the batteries. Who knows?
