I think now many companies offering the door lock with hidden alarm install in it for the security.When any body try to open the door without key the alarm will triggered and you get alert about that and they are not also expensive.

Disappointed. Pulled the module/brain with antenna and wire harness from a junkyard car. They wanted $30 for it (I see them cheaper on ebay) and I don't even know if it works (looks like it was exposed to the elements a little).

What sealed the fate was AofA told me it'd be $130 to order a new remote. And at the end of that $160 venture the damn thing might not even work.

I told the guy (John I think?) the exact situation. He seemed to understand and know what was needed. He said I'd need the VIN of the car and the serial # off the unit, and that it was a special order, it would take 3-4 weeks to be delivered, and it ran at $130. And theres no telling if the module works until it's plugged in and the remote doesn't connect to it.

John is the new kid on the block there. Ryan & Joe have left, if I remember their names correctly.

Why not try this. See if he would call up my order and he will clearly see what they charged me. All they do anyway is ship the number off the unit and then Kenwood programs the remote receiver. So if they are making $40 plus more dollars off just doing that, well shame on them.

Have faith that if you go through with the remote project, that the workings you now have in your car will work just fine. I took the same leap of faith with my coupe remote purchase. I couldn't be happier to have it in my hands and it is a perfectly fine working unit!

Let's do this. If you call and talk to John and he stonewalls you, send me a PM and I'll call him up. We will get this ordeal straightened out.

I appreciate it Kevin, but I left the unit at the junkyard and I won't get it back. Not worth it to me to put effort into, especially since the Legend isn't my daily driver anymore.

I just ordered a remote from John back in Feb of this year. First time he had been thru the process of ordering it thru Kenwood. He charged me $82
