Alright, I got some pics of the half shafts I have, and you are right about the splines in them.
On top, 1990 MT half shafts. On bottom, 1988 AT half shafts ![]() Splines in the MT ![]() Splines in the AT ![]() So it looks like you're gonna need the MT drive shafts for the passenger side. And I thought all drive shafts were the same.

What about bypassing the vehicle speed sensor when doing that tranny swap?

those pictures james just posted are correct.
i lost my digicam with all the pictures in it, but i took similar pictures.... before and after... i had to have the bearing carrier swapped from one half shaft to the other. i had to go to a specialty driveshaft shop to get it done. was like 20 bucks to do it.

Just out of curiosity,
If I bought a 2.5l manual sedan out of a recking yard, and I have a coupe, is everything bar the ECU the same? (loom, gearbox, trans mounts?) |

Mechanically the same (they'll mount). I feel like the gear ratios are different between 2.5 and 2.7 though. Wire harness is slightly different because the ECU is different. But if you're just looking at a transmission swap you should be good

2.5 gear ratios are shorter and closer ratios
