Default The New Guy

Hey all, new member here.
I just purchased a 1995 Legend L Coupe. I've wanted once since I was a teenager before I could drive. I got a one owner car, it's got 122k, with extensive service records from Acura.
It's in decent shape but not without issues. The main concern is it's got a blue smoke coming from the exhaust, from what I'm being told it is likely a valve seal or ring issue, and is hopefully not a huge deal.
It also needs a ton of cosmetic love inside and out, which a plan to get into over the winter.
I bought this car as a project, I'd like to get my hands dirty and fix her up doing what I can on my own. Where can I find information about working on these cars? Doesn't seem to be a ton of info on youtube, as I guess these were around before that was really popular. Any online resources?

Lastly, can anyone recommend a mechanic experienced with Legends? I am in Dutchess County, New York, so anything in the surrounding areas like Putnam, Orange, Rockland, Ulster Counties, maybe Danbury Connecticut?

Thank You in advance for any help, looking forward to being a part of the community.
Mark

Hello!

There is a Factory Service Manual online at:
http://www.atfinley.com/service/index.php

There is also a PDF of that but I don't remember where. The forums here are full of information in people's posts you just have to search and then if you are stumped ask.

I started out looking through the DIY section; and I did one of those. Right now I am working on the timing belt and water pump change.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Forum!

This is your best source for how to keep your Legend running.

Now read this post first:

http://forums.acuralegend.org/showthread.php?t=18630

It explains a genetic flaw in the G2 which can cause Blown Head Gaskets, and more importantly, it explains a maintenance procedure which will prevent said BHG's.

welcome!

The coupes are harder to find parts far, whereas I can source Sedan parts pretty easy. Do you have an automatic or a manual?

Good luck with your project. I have a couple of them in motion myself!
