The laser repair parts haven't arrived yet. We're waiting on the rebuild service to be completed. I think there is a 2-3 week turnaround and we just hit that marker so hopefully the shop will ship the part back soon and then it's a matter of getting it in the laser and running. I'll keep you all up to date in this thread.

The laser shop got in touch with me this weekend and had gotten a delayed status from the repair shop. Evidently the person who refills Epilog laser units has been pretty sick and they are behind on orders.

I'm sorry to say I don't really have any more information than that right now.

I reached out to the laser shop and he got an update from his repair service:

Phil finally came back today for a partial day. Unfortunately with the holiday coming up, it is unlikely anything will get finished up before the new year. Again, if you can continue to be patient, it is appreciated; if not, just let me know and we will get the laser on the way back to you. I am sorry this is taking so long. Thank you and have a nice weekend!

The shop I'm working with isn't exclusively a laser business and only has one laser for this job so there was no redundancy in place, they do mostly CNC and equipment design now. I'm just glad Daniel agreed to do the project since he has past history and was able to recall a couple of the technical hurdles of our pieces. It was the density of our artwork that ultimately pushed his laser over the edge. I just keep crossing my fingers that the repair place can squeeze in some overtime during the holidays to make up for lost time and maybe get the laser fixed. Good news is the machine is getting new mirrors, guides and belts as well so it should be spot on for our pieces.

I forgot I was in this group buy. Working on lasers is not cheap. I’ve worked on medical grade laser’s for the operating room and parts are so expensive. Fixing them isn’t all that complicated surprisingly.

I reached out to my laser guy about the repair and he shared with me that the repair facility hasn't been very responsive and he is actually getting very frustrated with how long this all is taking.

Some promising news is that I have another resource that is using one of the files to tune and get oriented with his new laser which is much higher powered than the one used at the original shop that is currently handling this project so maybe if the original vendor can't get up in running soon enough we can get this done with the side shop.

I've ordered a sheet of media for the newer laser guy and we'll see where it goes.

Again I apologize for the delays and am funneling some personal funds into trying to get this thing across the line.

Daniel got back to me this week:

Apparently, the owner/laser tech that works on my specific tubes got COVID and was basically out of work for almost 2 months.

They said my laser tube is on the schedule to be refilled next week, and ship end of the week.

Hope that happens.
