Default Update on production

I'm in Minnesota right now waiting on contractors to get the work done that I need. Once my slab is poured up here and I have a chance to install some retaining stone around it I will be heading back to ATL and production will hopefully be within a week of my return.

Once I have a hard departure date I will reach out to the laser shop and set a production appointment. I will post the production date out here when I get confirmation from the vendor.

When production is complete I will clean, package and ship. I will reach out to everyone prior to shipping via .org PM. If you provided a cell number at payment time I will also text you.

Thanks for your patience. Hopefully within the next week I can start scheduling production.

I've secured time at the laser shop today and will be doing the production run. Hopefully I'll have some pictures in a few hours!

Thanks for hanging in there.

UPDATE

The laser session today was pretty tough. We were able to get the new JDM pieces through prototyping, the fit and finish is good. As we moved on to making the production pieces we noticed the Epilog laser wasn't cutting all the way through the acrylic on its final pass. We noticed it would cut like one piece fine and then progressively get choppier until it didn't do any cutting.

We tried to at least get through the first sheet which would get the JDM pieces complete but ended up throwing in the towel because the cuts started getting too rough to pass muster. Daniel got back to me just a little while ago and let me know that the expected turnaround would be 10-15 business days plus shipping so that means we're out a month and I may be shipping around thanksgiving, though I'm cautiously optimistic the laser repair service has heavily padded their estimate and we will be back in business sooner.

In the end it ended up being a 3 hour prototype session which could have ultimately push the GB into a negative because I ran the numbers on a combined prototype/production session. Daniel at the laser shop is working with me and will make it right, he had mentioned a "low power" issue but it hadn't manifested any issues completing a job until ours which pushes the limits of his bed and therefore is using 100% power for a much longer period of time. We quit when the laser couldn't stay powered up long enough to cut one piece at a time with breaks in-between. Our production run pushed his CO2 tube to the ragged edge.

Fortunately we worked through enough together that he will be able to do the production run without me needing to physically be present. I'm really bummed at the delays and don't blame any of you if you are getting frustrated. I'm attaching a few pics from today's session. In the picture of the material on his laser bed you can probably see that not all of the cuts are going all the way through the media.

Again, sorry for the delay and thanks for being patient.

These pieces won't go into service since we're going to just redo with new media when the laser is repaired.

What's up man! So I have a 1997 Acura TL
3.2L(same exact engine as the Legend) and I was curious to know where I can maybe get a strut tower like the one in this picture?

Okay I am quite confused on this request. First I went back to check all the pages of this thread and am not even sure there was a picture of a strut tower brace. Second I went looking for any discussion about a strut tower brace and didn't see anything. Third although that generation of TL used a C32A variant engine the vehicle chasis are very different. There might be somebody who made a strut brace for the TL platform but I don't recall anyone here in the Legend forum mentioning one. I don't have any buddies that currently still have that generation TL (a few have the 3rd Gen one) but I'd think if there is one available it woulb be on one of the TL forums or possibly in the TL section of Acurazine? Perhaps someone there could point them in the right direction. If I still have contact information on the member who was doing runs on the MLS Copy strut bar perhaps he can advise if he had anyone else ask about one for a 1st Gen TL. This all just struck me as a rather odd question and potential thread jack inquiry.

Anyway . . . Thanks Rich for the public service announcement as well as the pictures of the troubles the laser was having cutting these indicators out. Who knows perhaps receiving these on or near "Black Friday" will be a nice touch!

Although I can't speak for everyone, delays on a $12 purchase is fine with me! Take your time, make sure the quality is up to par, and I'd bet everyone will be happy.

Hey could you PM me that member's contact? I've been thinking about building up a copycat bar myself but I have a few questions on materials.

You'll have to send him a PM from the forum. His user name here is sam o nela. I didn't find any other contact source for him when looking back through my history. Knowing Gabe he may have already seen this thread and these last couple of messages.

Cool 2020 G2 Legend Modernized Indicators Group Buy (USDM/JDM)

A third time!
Here we are a few months under 5 years since the last (and I actually thought the very last) group buy for laser cut G2 Modernized Indicators and we're doing it again! This group buy was precipitated by a long time member reaching out to me for some very custom JDM Modernized indicators. Upon the completion of that custom project we were chatting about the costs we were about to spend producing a single set of indicators and it was franky daunting. Through messaging we arrived at the question of whether there might be enough interest in the original offering plus potentially the JDM offering to defray some of the cost. A feeler thread was created here and response showed that the Group Buy would be possible. So here we are!!! Let's go.

Specific Type Info
I am separating the two options into follow-up posts below. This first post will contain status updates while the other two will have distribution specific information.

Doing business
Acuralegend.org is the only outlet I plan on using to manage the group buy, so if there are other forum or social outlets you might frequent with people that might be interested in these plates, feel free to link them over here. (hint: Facebook, Instagram, etc.) Because I need single source tracking they will need to sign up if not already a member so I can communicate via acuralegend.org PM. I know some one-offs are going to trickle through and I will do my best to accomodate, but please understand it will make things more difficult to keep organized (I definitely don't want anyone to fall between the cracks).

The only payment option I have open is PayPal. I will not be using any of the peer-type products.

About the upgrade:
The plates are made of .06" clear acrylic with a black backing. The symbols are engraved onto the black backing and allow light through the engraved portion. These plates drop the intensity of our OEM light "blocks" quite a bit and I think in general bring a little newer appearance to the cluster. This is a snap-in replacement of the existing plates except for 91-92 Legends where we will need to clean the printed arrows/high beam from the colored chiclets with Plastic-X or some mild solvent to remove factory printing.

Pricing
For this group buy a majority of R&D has been completed with previous group buys. The additional R&D for a JDM option has been 90% completed with final steps waiting to be integrated in the production burn time. I am in the process of figuring out the overhead costs (Minimum burn session, US/48 shipping, media, etc.) for the effort. In the feeler I spit-balled a maximum of 15.00 per set but with an agreement with another member we will cover the shortfall if we don't make break-even which is about 40 sets. I am just going to require the minimum total production orders to be 25 sets, Which we are not far off from in feeler interest so we will proceed business as usual.

The price of either USDM or JDM options is 10.50 per set.

End of day 10/23/2020 Stats:

Group buy instructions:
Join in : New additions PM me the style, number of sets you want and shipping information.
Payment : After I have confirmed I can fill your order I will PM you a balance and link for PayPal payment.
Confirm : Just prior to shipping I will send you a PM confirming the shipping information. I will not ship your package until you respond with a confirmation or correction.
Tracking : Once I ship your package(s) and have tracking I will PM your tracking info.
Install Them : Click here to view/print installation instructions

******* READ ON IN NEXT POST ************
Amazing job <3
