Default sub box build

as i sit here thinking of ways to make 2 12's fit in my trunk push up to the back seat, i started to wonder has anyone ever put a down firing sub box in there trunk?

well why would you want to fire into the floor? Just wondering because for you to use that in a way were it would benefit from that you would need a much lower trunk.

well not necessarily, in my expedition i have down fire subs so i could fit the 3rd in and it sounds great.

i wrote this before you did your thread and saw your box. that is the design a wrote up a few weeks ago but i cant get an honest estimate for the build, everyone shruggin they shoulders.

bigg your comparing a suv to a legend they will sound really different. But in your SUV you had alot more vertical room and that would mean you could build the box to spec just facing differently.

My box build could have been lot better it should be a million piece box vs how many pieces are in it now. If you wanted to use all the space you could fiberglass the box into the trunk and bolt a face to it where the subs will mount. I will say the box got deeper but the current setup gets much louder. Like it should.

My suggestion is do the wall like I did but if you have the rear tweeter pods vent the "box" into the cabin, also make sure you cap the pressure vent in the trunk or else it will sound like crap.

yea i got you, thats an idea. i wasnt comparing the 2, i knew how my truck sounded, so i was curious if anyone had done it in the car and what it sounded like.

i was in the audio shop today and i was looking at some boxes they had built already and some old pics from there contest days and i came up with a new idea, so im a sketch it and see if i can do it.

no.

building boxes is pretty simple I'd never pay for one again since its only like 30 bucks to make.

I've put my 18 in the back off a VW golf it was down firing with the sub sitting outside the box it got LOUD. but is a 18 what do else to u expect u know?

Yo Lou - I'm thinking about reworking the weaksauce setup I have now a bit and I'm curious about 2 things.

1) Using the tweeter pods as vents? Did you drill through the sheet metal beneath them?

2) The pressure vent? What's that?
