Lightbulb C32B V-Tec Heads on C32A engine

Hi everyone,

Now "Jonslegend" thread about J-Series head swap gave me a bit more practical idea.

Running C32B (NSX) V-tec heads on a C32A Engine (Legend)

A DOHC V-Tec engine would be just awesome.
Although i know full well this isn't easy personally I'm not sure you could get this working.

Here is a quick list of the obvious problems your going to run in to:
- Head alignment (getting the bolts to align up and have the cylinders align)
- Wider heads so you need to close them up on the bottom end
- bolt alignment
- Cam alignment
- different positions
- DOHC ( i'd say go for the ROVER V6 solution on this)
- Oil system modification for V-Tec
- Reliability
- Pressure maintenance and getting it running
- Electrical
- DV8 did get a C32B computer stand alone system working so maybe he and telion or sr5guy can solve this nightmare.

Things your going to need to use:
C32B intake manifold
C32B computer with a stand alone system

Your going to need to make on hell of a adepter to get them heads tuning good on a C32A.

Rover style dohc adapters (running a secondary chain or belt from the main cam to get the other one running on a SOHC base)

It ain't going to be cheap or a fast build although... some kind of conversion package could be made if it all works and i believe it might be cheaper than a C32B swap (RWD)

I expect the V-Tec head to clear the tower struts. will make the custom header job a bit more complex..

Now getting a good discussion running about this subject and how to get this done would be interesting and useful.

yea sorry if this seems like a dumb question but what is the real benifit of vtec? to my understanding vtec kicks in at a certain rpm which essentially activates the second cam if so what is the real benifit since our cars are already twin cam engines. if im wrong would someone please correct me.

a we have twin cam engines correct a NSX is a quad cam.

way more aggressive and the V-tec sound and kick in in just pure fun.
well it's hard to explain how it is to drive a NSX on a forum.... something you'd need to experience to understand.

now back to legend...

The engine will gain top end revs big time but won't go to 8K like the NSX will (crank, and connecting rods aren't designed like NSX's are.

I'd also put the V-Tec point a lower so it kicks in quicker
V-tec will boost power and gives a wonder full kick (NSX has a very aggressive V-tec so don't compare white a J series or mild style engine)

Let's say it will give some Type-R spice to your Legend.
But don't expect NSX power levels.

You'd maybe get 250hp out of it.
Tuning potential will be increased certainly NA tuning.
Just listen to a sound clip of a NSX going in to V-tec.. that would just be so cool in a Legend.

hmmm so that will make the legend motor (if its possible) a quad cam motor. thats sounds amazing and would be nice as hell. i know so integra guys put in a vtec switch so that it runs all the time or kicks in when they feel they need it.

Listen from 4.13 on V-Tec kicks in at about 4.18.
Note: that's a CTSC powered NSX.

Wiki vtec and you'll learn what it's about. It's basically a cam with a bigger profile that can be engaged to add top end HP. It's not used in lower RPM's to keep the engine producing more torque.

250 hp has nearly been attained by the NA 3.5 t2 hybrid and webcams.

Legends are single cam engines. It's not about the total amount of camshafts but the number of cams in an engine head.
