OEM Foglights

Can’t get these stupid foglights to come on. Followed the instructions to the t....I think. The ground on the bumper harness I ran a ground wire to the neg battery terminal. Anyone have any input?

Uhm why did you run a wire to the negative battery terminal? The bumper harness should have a ground loop (hook or whatever they call it as it isn't a complete circle) that gets bolted to the front metal frame under the bumper cover. The other end (not including the plugs that go into the lights themselves) routes into the cabin and connects to the brown connector by the fuse box. There shouldn't be any additional wires or connections needed. I do have a spare harness at my house and can get you pictures of everything if needed.

Chaka, was trying be in the safe side with that ground. I’ll connect it at the frame in the morning. So I have the cabin harness that came with the fogs to include the switch (TCS, fog and courtesy) but the instructions were a bit confusing. When it talked about the 14 pin connectors and the two relays that mount together it didn’t seem right but I followed it anyway only to have no lights. The light on the switch doesn’t even light up. So needless to say it’s time to break out the multimeter and do some voltage and continuity checks

Hey Ray there are TWO underdash 14 pin plugs that can unfortunately get confused and the wrong ojenwill do EXACTLY what you said about having no lights. IIRC the two connectors are like three ports away from each other. I'm wanting to say the one you need is a bit hidden with the power steering wheel mechanism. I'd go in there and check but I have WWWAAAYYY TOO MANY wires stuffed under my dash that I had to use all kinds of techniques to get them underneath there and out of the way so I could bolt it all back down.

Thanks Chaka. I'll keep digging around. Spent pretty much the whole holiday messing around with this. I definitely plugged it in the wrong one cause the cluster sound wouldn't quit.

1. do u have power going to the lights?
2. did you check the wiring inside the lights themselfs?
3. does it have known good bulbs?

Yeah I can imagine. I'm getting to the point where twisting myself up in knots under the dashboard is pain inducing. I may have to retire soon from "trunk monkey" capable status!

Alex, I still need to put a multimeter on the lights themselves. I actually replaced the bulbs with new ones so in retrospect I should have at least bench tested them. My biggest struggle now in the cabin harness. I’m pretty sure I plugged something up wrong (14 pin) cause my car won’t shift from park.

yea sounds like it you did get the wrong harness plug. there are a few in there that are similar.

Did you press the button on the switch? LOL, just kidding. (But seriously, have you checked to make sure the switch is good?) Good to “see” you again!
