Your input basically is telling me the decision to "leave it behind" was right.
Today just like this past weekend the "false weather prophets" have gotten the forecast WRONG!! It is 90 degrees with an 11% chance of rain that drops to just 3 % here in a couple of hours. It is gorgeous sunny outside and I have seen a drop of rain nor see any thunderstorms on the current forecast or horizon.
