Well, as you all know from my old build thread, it was a complete failed after doing a lot of fixing. When the car wasn't running right, I was gonna toss the car into the junkyard. But I couldn't because I've worked so hard on it and if I give up, I feel like I failed at working on cars. So I'm pushing myself to start all over again, but this time, rebuild the C27 block from the bottom up.

Since the weekend that passed already, it was a 1/2 sale for 4 days. So me and a buddy went to the junkyard and found a 5-speed 87' Coupe. The motor block has about 285,000 miles on it. I didn't care about the mileage because I'm replacing what ever I can to the block.

After we yanked the block and tranny out of the Coupe, we started to remove the stuff I didn't need like tranny, cylinder heads, intake manifold, oil cooler, and A/C Pump. After that, we took it back to his place since he's got space in his garage for me to work on. I also bought an Engine Stand from Harbor Freight for $43. It was on sale plus the 20% coupon I had. I only took 1 picture because I was too busy removing stuff off the block and I was hungry and tired. I just wanted the block out of the junkyard and at my friend house:

Ready to be pulled out of the Engine Bay:

if I do have time this week, I'm gonna start removing the bottom end out and get the pistons out. More to come soon.

As you know, I have been coveting some burlwood to get rid of the boring fake plastic wood, I also wanted to get rid of the stock dildo shifter...well today I put in a 2010 MDX Shift Knob. I caught it for a steal on ebay, $25. It's virtually brand new, it was a dealership take off for a customer that upgraded to the leather and wood knob, it was advertised as having "10 miles" on it when I picked it up. I also picked up a burlwood auto console from Earlthepearl (thanks bro). I had some downtime and decided to spend my rainy day working in the interior. I had a black leather shift boot on it, but the fitment was wack, so I have to customize that a little and I will update once I have that installed. I have many more pieces to purchase and install but, here is where Im at so far

stay tuned, for more progress in the following days and weeks :p

Brief history:
As some of you may remember, I bought an 88 Legend L sedan a few months ago. I was looking for a good "project" DD, and decided on a G1. I've owned CB7's and other Hondas, but never a G1 Legend, so the decision was easy.

I searched CL for a while, and finally came across this sedan. The guy had put 2700$ into the car, and it snapped a timing belt while his son was driving it a year later.

He had it on CL for 350$, and was tired of looking at it. He gave me the "you better act fast because people are blowing me up" routine, but later mentioned it probably would be scrapped. I sat there ho-humming about it, so he thought for a second and said, "I was going to sell this on ebay, but I'll throw this in for you"

I gave him his asking price and had it towed home.

Parts that are new/replaced:
transmission, differential, torque converter, both axles, all the motor mounts, battery, alternator, all the tires, and the rear main seal. The body is in good shape, typical for the Northwest (no rust), with the exception of a small dent in the drivers side rear door. More pics of the body will come later, once its actually running and I can pull it out of the garage :)

So now that everyone's up to speed, here's where the rebuild begins.

The TB wasn't actually snapped: it shredded because of a seized front camshaft.

*Warning* these pictures will make you cringe! Your looking at the front and rear camshafts, and the heads themselves.

The front cam was totally seized, and the back was close to seizing up. This car went a long, long, time between oil changes.

So I headed off to the JY to grab a set of heads and cams. Luckily, I live near a JY that is packed full of G1's, so I didn't have to look very hard, or pay very much. I found a 90 LS that had been wrecked in the rear. I pulled the valve covers and the engine was hella clean. It was obvious the owner had taken care of the car.

Used heads/cams and complete valvetrain: 45$

Although they already looked great, I took them over to my machine shop, where they cleaned, pressure tested, and milled them both.

Machine shop labor: 200$

While I waited for the machine shop, I took apart and cleaned the intake manifold. It was pretty nasty. I didn't get alot of pics of this process, but anyone who's cleaned a Legend IM knows what a joy it is.

the EGR opening: The opening is the size of a penny, and you can see how clogged it was. I held a flashlight behind the opening when i took these.

Heads are back from the machine shop.

Lots more pics and updates coming soon.
