Default Test Drive

Well, I haven't had a chance to do an extended test drive since repairs were made, so on Sunday I/we ended up doing a 91 mile test drive in pursuit of Tyson's newest adventure. First we drove her 28 miles to look at his G1, then we drove 50 miles to obtain the key to his G1 (don't ask), then 23 miles back to my house where we swapped to another vehicle (ahhh enclosed air conditioning - heck it was 105F outside in the sun don't you know - which is a bit toasty for a convertible) and then returned to where his G1 was parked, then home again. Whew!

Onsite at Tyson's G1 coupe location - the link to his G1 thread: http://forums.acuralegend.org/tysons...-l-t30061.html

Picked up an antenna mast, owner's manual and 3rd brake light from a sedan from eBay last week and parts arrived today. Going to adapt the brake light to replace the red beacon on the trunk lid. It rained all day, so the planned trip to the convertible top maker was canceled. Supposed to rain tomorrow too! sheesh...

Excellent!

Let us know what you find out from the convertible top guy. Yeah, can you believe this rain we've been getting? Craziness. Let's hope things let up after tomorrow.

That reminds me, mine needs an antenna mast too. Can't we arrange some type of "two for one" pricing when you buy stuff like that? LOL

I'm surprised its raining out there. Can't wait to see how you're going to mount the third brake on it.

I plan to place it pretty much in the existing position, but it may require some mod to adapt.

Went shopping today for estimates on replacing the custom canvas convertible top and was a bit shocked at the estimates which were upwards to 3500!!! It became apparent during the process that the top's carriage was in need of some repair and t l c in addition to the custom made top...

So this may be deferred indefinitely - cooler weather will prevail for the next 6-7 months in the Valley of the Sun - as I move onto other items.

Might just put a cockpit cover on her so I can park her outside if need be, sort of like a boat cover or maybe roadster like - where you can remove the driver side for driver only cruising. Something like that would be less than a grand.

In the meantime, she will be driven in the top down mode!

Default Update Jan 2014

Happy New Year everyone! Been fairly quiet for several months - mainly due to my commitment to a fairly large Christmas light show we've been putting together for the past 6 years. Now the last of the 30,000 lights are coming down and being stowed, it's time to turn my attention back to the convertible....some minor cosmetic & drive-ability items need addressing. With the rather significant cost of the custom top, she is in permanent drop top condition and needs to be driven and garaged accordingly - that means my '93 Coupe is seeing quite a bit of AZ sunshine lately....in the meantime, she's been a blast to cruise around town in.

To check out our Christmas light show on facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/azhenrychristmas?ref=hl or youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS8DiwW7nmo

I don't have a Facebook so I can't watch it there, and YouTube blocked it for music copyright. I love Christmas light shows. So I'm bummed I can't check it out.

For the convertible. If it is permanent drop top, may I suggest removing the heavy roof mechanism and material, and having a toneau cover made? It sure would look clean, and would be absolutely cheaper to have made. Even more so if it is made of fiberglass. Then you could carpet the "pocket" back there for additional storage or a lot of speaker space.

That is a beautiful car!
Sorry I'm new to the site so this is my first time reading about it.
But that really is an amazing find!

Oh and amazing job on the Christmas lights!
But it never fails, when trying to document your hard work, someone always has to interrupt/block what you're doing lol

I especially like through in the Chevy Chase song on the 2nd video
