Here's a simple "DIY" - Compliment of (BDAZZG1) Tony
![]() Cleaning agents... - 1 qt. of 20w-50 motor oil (cheap stuff) - 2 qts. of ATF (cheap stuff) - 2 qts. of diesel fuel Oil change supplies... - 1 gallon of 15w-40 Shell Rotella heavy duty motor oil - 1 qt. of dexron III ATF (I used Castrol high mileage) - 1 Napa gold or WIX oil filter Cleaning steps and procedures... (just the standard "oil change" tools required) Note: My engine was at operating temperature prior to flushing. - drain old oil as much as you can then button it back up - mix cleaning agents in a clean oil drain pan and pour mixture in oil crankcase - start the car and let idle (NO revving) for 30 minutes Note: you'll see lots of smoke coming out of the tail pipe right around 10 minutes of idle time. - turn off ignition and drain oil pan; I'd give it 10 minutes before re-inserting the drain plug - remove old oil filter and replace it with Napa gold or WIX oil filter - pour 1 gallon of rotella oil plus 1 qt. of Dexron III ATF into the crankcase That is it, you're done ![]() Just a heads up though; you'll have a trail of smoke (about a mile long) during test drive ![]()

Why the ATF in the oil change? You're gonna drive on that for 3K miles? I know it has detergents, but isn't that dangerous? Or does the high viscosity oil you mix it with compensate for the insuitable formulation of the ATF?

GMan, you're more than welcome to PM (BDAZZG1) Tony for any of your question(s)... and I'm certainly sure he can explain it more better than me
